Healing from Compassion Fatigue

Caring for yourself in the Face of Difficult Work

“Compassion Fatigue is defined as a state experienced by those helping people or animals in distress; it is an extreme state of tension and preoccupation with the suffering of those being helped to the degree that it can create secondary traumatic stress for the helper.” (Dr. Charles Figley, Director, Tulane Traumatology Institute)

Our work can be overwhelming. The challenge is to maintain our resilience so we can keep doing the work with care, energy and compassion. This retreat is designed for helping professionals who may be feeling stressed, burned out, or thinking of making a career change because the work has become too much.

In this two- day retreat, you will learn to identify symptoms of compassion fatigue, how to manage symptoms, and how to develop an individual self- care plan. Each of you will be experiencing self- care throughout the weekend by learning mindfulness practices, meditation, yoga, massage, aroma therapy and connecting with nature.

Breakfast and lunch are provided for both days.

Retreat facilitator: Christine Anderson-Kueter, MA, LMHC, ACH

Celebrate Summer Solstice

Transform your life

During this two day retreat, we will gather toolsto transform your life – not simply change it. We will be celebrating the season of summer, honoring the summer solstice, and tapping into the abundance that the earth provides us.

We will use mindfulness exercises that enable us to re-attune ourselves to the natural rhythms of mother earth. As we greet the rising sun in the morning and bid farewell to the sun in the evening as it sets, we will engage in opening our consciousness and strengthening our connection with nature. As we open, we will tap into our genuine self and begin to set intentions for transformation.

This retreat is for you if you
Are ready to let go of old baggage,
You want to quiet the chatter in your head,
You want to become more acquainted with your genuine self (centered).

Using an eclectic assortment of tools, Chris, Kibby and Teresa will guide you through meditations, drumming, chanting, and nature walks in morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. You will become more aware of how to nourish yourself, let go of what no longer serves you, and create space for what you want to bring into your life.

The Summer Solstice retreat begins on Friday June 23. Guests may check in anytime after 3:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 6:00pm. The retreat will conclude at 3:00pm on Sunday.

We ask that all guests of this retreat stay at the ranch. This will allow you to immerse in the schedule which begins at sunrise each day and ends well after sunset. Accommodations range from private rooms with shared bath at the main house, to dorm style accommodations at the cabin. Meals are served family style, and are prepared using organic, locally grown ingredients whenever possible. We will make every effort to accommodate dietary restrictions with prior notification. Rooms are on first come, first serve basis.

Retreat Tuition, which includes food and lodging: $475.00
