So I’m lying here in my condo, burrowed in the straw and musing because it’s really far too cold to do anything else. I’ve been thinking about how complicated humans are and how difficult it must be for them to get through life.
For example, my human was cleaning the barn yesterday, and her mate mentioned that she was taking her time – which was nice cause I got a nice tummy rub – but anyway, she told her mate that she wanted to be a present. I know Christmas is coming, but why would she want to be a present? And to whom will she be gifted? What about my rubs? Will she be wrapped and put under the tree? Really, this is mostly about my needs…
I was about to have a pigniption, and Billy started snorting, “she wants to be present, you swine – not be a present”. Billy is better with italics than I am.
Ok, so then Ringo piped up and explained that it means appreciating and being in the moment rather than worrying about yesterday or tomorrow. If being present means slowing down, giving more belly rubs and loving on us, then she really is a present – because love and gratitude are the best gifts ever (well treats are nice too).
Merry Christmas!
